Mother's Day - hummm. Normally a day everyone expresses their appreciation for all of the love we have poured into them their entire lives. Well - I have been reflecting this entire week about this concept of being a Mother. Not just having given birth and subsequently you are a Mother by definition. The Real Deal - Actively Being a Mother.
Of course you all know I am a Mother; I am blessed with three wonderful adult children, and more three wonderful grandchildren. I am very blessed. It is a transition that I wasn't expecting, maybe wanting but not really putting my head around it. Meaning, wow they are adults and they do not need me anymore. Additionally, followed by the thoughts of okay, I did that right (long list of memories) and okay Lord can I somehow do these things over (another long list of memories). First, let me say this. Do Not Get Down on yourself, judge yourself, and certainly do NOT get in those Mommy competition things at school or whatever. Yikes. No Good.
What are our Jobs, How are we to be, do, act - all of it? Our jobs are so critical, literally one of the most important jobs in our lifetimes - being parents. As Mothers, Wives, Woman in our community we are responsible for setting the tone. Often setting the standards, the boundaries, food and health, personal high-gene, integrity, work and study habits - the list is long. Whereas our counter parts are to enforce it. In our modern world satan has created quite a problem, by turning parenting into a fight, keeping score with each other verses enjoying the roller coaster together. You can't predict it, control it, most of the time you can't even manage it. So you certainly can NOT keep score!!!
In an ideal world, certainly as God intended we work as partners. That said there is that connection that Mothers have with their children, in most cases it is a bit more extreme that connections Fathers have with their children. Not more important just different. Today, I want to address the Mother Side - So Women - Let's Get Better At this Important Job! Think about it, if your favorite sports star, singer, actor, or race driver didn't practice, study and work hard to improve you would be pretty at at them. So why are we not doing the same - after all this is real and real important!!!
How about you examine the beginning of Luke. Talk about a job, how would you even contemplate having an Angel tell you, You (miss teenager) are going to be the Mother of God. Right. Wow.
What can we learn from her, the Mother of God. Nearly a child herself. Not Married. I mean how does that conversation go; Joseph honey, well you and I know we have not been together intimately. But, I have some thing wonderful to tell you. An angel came down and explained it, but okay I am pregnant and I am giving birth to God. We are to call Him Jesus. Okay. Think about that.
First, the love of her life could have thrown her out. Humiliated her, even to her own family, stoned her in fact. She could have said hum, maybe I need to seduce Joseph and tell him later. If she was in our society even without the risk of complete humiliation and stoning; I think it is likely that is the choice most young woman would act upon.
So right now, this moment ask yourself what would you do. Seriously, what would you do. Right, us Mother's need to work on ourselves, and each other. Support, build, and make darn sure we are always willing to do whatever it takes. Not the easy roads, not flip on the TV, or give them their handhelds while we only take care of ourselves - NO - we do what ever it takes. That is our job - in fact that is our blessing!
I am thinking first steps to Mother's recovering our roles, our rightful selves.
If we all start making those little changes, WOW, what a positive affect we can all bring to this world. Think of the wonderfully empowered and positive little people. Think of how many LESS broken and medicated children there will be! This is a Call To Action. Let's get serious, it is after all much more important than a new diet.
"You are not supposed to think opposite from the Spirit. When you lose your vision of winning lost souls for God, then you are no longer thinking like the Holy Spirit - you are thinking like yourself.
That which is born of the Spirit is the spirit. You are supposed to have the same kind of vision that the Holy Spirit has, the same kind of the compassion and faithfulness that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself had, because you have the same Spirit in you that He had in Him.
If the Spirit of God is in your heart, then you will be moved to share Jesus with others. If you have not been doing that, then it is time to begin. You can do it. God's power is available to you to save people or heal them or do anything else that needs to be done for them. "

This is a great area of contemplation for most of us; how, when, with how much zeal and so on. I myself have thought this before and held my words in. For everyone the process is personal and I advise that you do this with Jesus, pray through it. However, if you would like to get there a bit sooner. Forgo your stubbornness, or fears, or simply thinking you are not good enough for heavens sake; and just let your light shine. Be happy, be filled with the Spirit at all times. It opens conversations, like one I often have at airports on business travel. People are sad, tired, irritated then they see me... very happy. They ask what am I happy about... I say the Lord. Or they ask wow you are shining, or some other compliment... I say Oh that is the Holy Spirit. Mindful, a positive happy response is a safe one. There is plenty of room in it. For example one time one person got a little angry at my response, I don't quite recall his exact statement. My answer I remember; one of the more mysterious and freeing gifts God gave all of us is our Free Will. Therefore, I have a great deal of respect for your choices as I would hope you would afford me that same respect. No worries, I was not placed here to force something on you, you asked me the question remember. Pause, have a very blessed day & Safe Travels. Later that person, apologized and asked a few more questions. I was blessed to be one to plant some seeds of Love & the Word in his heart.
A little piece of advise is keep it simple. Sometimes people don't realize they are hurting, nor that others can see that. So don't go and call them out. Be gentle, smile a lot, anything that you say make it about you, your own experience and leave the door open for them to ask. Have a few verses on hand, and keep it simple while listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Always listen to Him, not your spirit, His Spirit.
"Faith is not a feeling or an emotion. Many people mistake optimism or belief based on natural knowledge or experience for faith. "Natural" faith, or mental belief, leads to false expectations which will bring nothing from the Lord. This kind of faith results in selfish ambitions, wrong motives, and seeking God's promises to satisfy personal desires.
How do you develop faith for a life of victory? first, fee on the Scriptures, then apply them! Agree with people of faith and resist the Devil, negative thinking and condemnation. Be led by the Holy Spirit. (Romans *: 14,15)
Faith is an act! Verbal confession is only a place where faith begins. When the Holy Spirit drops faith into your heart to believe on Jesus as Savior, you must act on that in order to be save. (Romans 10:10,13) Inactive faith is useless. Faith must be active to be alive. (James 2:17)

I have several posts on this very subject - however a quote as strong and well articulated as this - needs no follow on commentary. TYL
