DOES OUR STATE OF MIND SET THE TONE EACH DAY - FOR OURSELVES AND THOSE AROUND US?
YES - OH YES IT DOES AND MORE IMPORTANT THAT STATE HAS A LONG TERM AND LASTING IMPACT!
Well today is my Mother's Birthday, she went home to be with the Lord July 26, 2015. Gosh I miss her! She was a royal pain most of the time; a royal pain Setting The Tone. Setting a State of Mind. She may not have been as successful at this in her own life, but darn it she made sure all of her loved ones had this FOCUS! Thank You Mother for this lesson... Thank You Lord for sending her to me, and to all of those that she impacted! I pray each day that I have learned from her good example, as well as her failures so that I can grow and set a tone, a state of mind that is the next level the Lord wants us. Certainly, He doesn't want us to stay babies.
There is an interesting concept I would like to challenge you to explore today, TO CHANGE TODAY. All of us don't really want to admit or talk about these little secrets, they are our parachutes. The concept is well I know I'm not perfect, so I know I will fall, and I know I can repent and be forgiven once again by His grace. Literally this kind of thinking grieves His Spirit! And is seriously short changing you in all walks of YOUR life and everyone around you!!!
Why, it is simple we are giving ourselves the permission to sin! Yep, this is not different than telling someone, okay I will TRY to do that. Verses say, Yes I will do it, consider it done. The first example is giving yourself an out, and NOT committing at all. The second is an absolute commitment, a promise that it is done (whatever it is).
What is the difference. I believe it is a state of mind, a state of faith verses a state of insecurity or wanting to play it safe. Why do we want to play it safe? It is easy fear of failure, embarrassment, potential damage to our pride or egos. Holy Cow Right, Yes Sam just put the big IT on the table. Turned the lights on. Of course I did !-)
Fact is God knows this already, see the verses below. Among a myriad of passages specifically saying, hey people you can't keep secrets from your creator! He as usual gives us ways and means to be saved through Grace, He always has our backs. Thank You Lord!! He also warns and instructs on how to have a more fulfilled life, reap His immensely amazing and powerful promises. It is simple change our mindset... Yes that is us making a choice. Our wills, each moment, each day, every day. That is what makes it so powerful.
So try this; realize and say it out loud a minimum of 21 times today. The definition of failure is no longer "a failed attempt", it is NOW STARTING TODAY... The Definition of Failure is Not Trying w Your Full Commitment to Begin with!!! It is Not result based, it is INTENT based!!! You see if you dive in, give it your all, truly commitment, without all those little parachutes (easy out buttons which erode your true intent) .... No matter what the result you have WON, you have SUCCEEDED!!! Great example: how many times did it take for Thomas Edison to get it right? You see if he had the fear of failure he would have never succeeded. Instead he gave himself permission to really go for it, no matter the result, his INTENT was to figure it out and get it done!! I believe that is the attitude God wants us to have for everything, all the time, and for all of His children to be winners, to be succeeding in all walks of our lives.
As for sin, treat it the same way, don't give in, be weak, or have permission to fail on your mind. Focus on your walk, your daily efforts, be in the Word, in Prayer, have Him in your hearts... Find it that new state of mind, Keep it, Share it!!!
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:1-4 NIV
“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”
Romans 6:5-7 NIV
Father, You said if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of you, Who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given them. Therefore, I ask in faith, nothing wavering, to be filled with the knowledge of Your Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Today I incline my ear unto wisdom, and I apply my heart to understanding so that I might receive that which has been freely given unto me.
In the name of Jesus, I receive skill and Godly wisdom and instruction. I discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight. I receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity. Prudence, knowledge, discretion, and discernment are given to me. I increase in knowledge. As a person of understanding, I acquire skill and attain to sound the counsels [so that I may be able to steer my course rightly].
Wisdom will keep, defend, and protect me; I love her and she guards me. I prize Wisdom highly and exalt her; she will bring me to honor because I ebrace her. She gives to my head a wreath of gracefulness; a crown of beauty and glory will she deliver to me. Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.
Jesus has been made unto me wisdom, and in Him are all the treasures of ]divine] wisdom, [of comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God]; and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden. God has hidden away sound and glodly wisdom and stored it up for me, for I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, I will walk in paths of uprightness. When I walk, my steps shall not be hampered – my path will be clear and open; and when I run, I shall not stumble. I take fast hold of instruction and do not let her go; I guard her, for she is my life. I let my eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and my gaze is straight before me. I consider well the path of my feet, and I let all my ways be established and ordered aright.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I look carefully to how I walk! I live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as unwise and witless, but as wise – sensible, intelligent – person, making the very most of my time – buy up every opportunity. Amen
Firstly, let's all stop and realize a few facts that have somehow crept into many of our belief systems. Much stemming from religious (not grace based) beliefs that we must live is poverty in order to be humble. That's not true. Some of the most arrogant people are totally ignorant to the facets of how life elements are paid for. They are often lazy, hateful, and jealous. All of that negative thinking often manifests itself in stubborn arrogance. Then that way of thinking becomes viral, why because it is easy to hate. Its all over the media, all over social media :: long lists of victim stories. Yet somehow all this bad stuff is always someone else's fault, the governments fault, wealthy peoples fault, your boss, the neighbor with the awesome car or gorgeous wife... the list goes on. Reality slips away, worse as people wallow in that way of thinking they become vulnerable to manipulation, and simply turn into game pieces for agendas that go unnoticed. Being loving, forgiving, nurturing is much more difficult. However, MUCH more rewarding. Think about it - which would you want write on your epitaph.
The focus used to be "the man" meaning big government, or more appropriately corrupt happenings that come out of big government. Now there is the full shift to corporate or the 1%. I will not argue the wrong doings, or perhaps more appropriately outlined what corporate America or otherwise can do for others and or have failed to do. Some of the bad decisions, minimizing the value of its corporate citizens for example, has done the most damage. Providing a narrative that many spin this terrible lie from. A great and recent example that frames this error in thinking, is a book written by John Mackey founder of Whole foods, called "Conscious Capitalism". Please read this book and consider its arguments. They are solid. Simply put we need to all work, make money, it is a good thing not a bad thing. If we don't there are no funds to actually help those in need. Not to mention buy your own food. This thinking that somehow we are all entitled to hand outs, or a perfect life without the cost of hard work - is simply illogical.
Now, stay with me, this isn't a political statement. It doesn't matter to God what party you see yourself attached to, what matters are that policy, governance, and life choices are in alignment with the Word. You can make those decisions yourselves. Individually we can have an effect, be thankful for your job, your calling or not, it is a means to a way. Be happy validate others, through that you too will be validated. That emotion is incredibly powerful!
So back to it, what happens when we are prosperous; well for starters we can give and tithe great amounts, we can add considerable value to the world. This is why the Lord wants His people prosperous. That means YOU. There are two nations to have ever started, in all of time, that were founded on God :: yep, Israel and the United States of America. Again, that doesn't mean we are the only ones to be prosperous, It is a fact to consider for accountability. Why we all need to be much more careful with loyalty, respect, rightfulness, and what is in alignment with Gods Word verses worrying about what other people think. For heavens sake, why would you make an impactful decision based on what you 'think' someone 'might think' about what you do. Do we really want to give that level of control to an imaginary matrix, or to an ever fickle media?!?!?!? No - oh No You Don't!!
So back to this concept of prosperity, is it wrong to seek it? No. Is it wrong to have goals and aspirations, grand or otherwise one step at a time? No. Is it wrong to want to provide for your family, want a good job, to further your career? No. Now, could it be wrong to expect any government should take from everyone it can, so you can be lazy and get everything handed to you? Granted that was a loaded question, but the answer is still Yes. It simply strips people of our rights, our freedoms, our creativity.
The Law of Moses clearly demonstrates it was God's own wish to bless His beloved nation above all nations upon the Earth. (Be mindful, this is post Christ era so we all have grace upon us and therefore are all His beloved nation - if we choose to be). Even during these early times His people initially didn't have the skills they would need to be financially successful. God declared He would give it to them, give them the power to obtain wealth. (Deut. 8:18). That is to say, He Himself would teach them how to prosper materially.
This was not a scheme that resulted from a human request for prosperity; rather, it was entirely God's idea! The notion that prosperity is evil and poverty is good cannot be found in scripture!
Think about this. Can man be evil, yes we know that is true. Have we had a myriad of evil people irrespective of their wealth. Well that is a solid yes. In fact most evil actions come out of disparate times, not from glorious times. Of course there have been some seriously powerful and evil people. Those are easier to remember. However, they do not dominate the numbers. So be careful not to identify prosperity, or even the ability to obtain prosperity with evil.
Go forth be prosperous, give, tithe, contribute and be blessed!
